Cover Letter Generator#

Writing a unique cover letter for every application is exhausting. Trackr's Cover Letter Generator does the heavy lifting, crafting personalized letters that align your skills with the exact needs of the employer.

Why it exists#

Recruiters spend seconds scanning applications. A generic cover letter is often ignored, but a highly tailored one can set you apart. We built this tool to help you produce bespoke cover letters at scale, without the burnout.

How it works#

The generator analyzes your master resume and the specific job description you've saved in Trackr. It then drafts a letter highlighting the specific experiences in your background that match the employer's requirements.

The generator uses the tone preferences set in your Account Settings (e.g., Professional, Enthusiastic, Direct).

Step-by-step instructions#

  1. Navigate to a saved job in your Job Board.
  2. Click on the AI Assistant tab within the job view.
  3. Select Generate Cover Letter.
  4. Review the generated text in the editor.
  5. Make any manual adjustments if necessary.
  6. Click Export as PDF or Copy to Clipboard.
Your generated cover letter is automatically saved to the job's file attachments for future reference!

Tips#

If the tone isn't quite right, use the "Regenerate" button and select a different tone option before generating again.

Best Practices#

  • Check for placeholders: Sometimes the AI will leave brackets like [Company Name] if it couldn't confidently parse the information. Always read through before submitting!
  • Add a personal hook: The AI writes a great body, but if you have a personal connection to the company or a referral, manually add that to the opening paragraph.

FAQ#

Can I edit the generated letter? Yes! The generator outputs to a rich text editor where you can format, tweak, and rewrite any part of the letter.

What if the job description is very short? If the job description lacks detail, the AI will rely more heavily on your resume and standard industry best practices. Try to provide as much context as possible.
