Overview#

The ATS (Applicant Tracking System) Score is a powerful feature that analyzes how well your resume matches a specific job description. It highlights missing keywords, formatting issues, and provides actionable advice to improve your chances of landing an interview.

Why it exists#

Many companies use ATS software to filter out resumes before a human ever reads them. By analyzing your resume against the job description before you apply, you can identify and fix gaps, significantly increasing your interview rate.

How it works#

The ATS Score is NOT automatic. It is only generated when you actively request it via the AI Assistant. Trackr does not automatically score every resume against every job to conserve your AI credits and ensure you are intentionally reviewing the feedback.

When triggered, the AI Assistant compares the text of your resume to the text of the saved job description. It looks for matching skills, required experience, and keyword density, then generates a score out of 100 along with specific improvement suggestions.

Step-by-step instructions#

To generate an ATS score for a specific application:

Navigate to your Saved Jobs board and click on a specific job card.
Ensure you have attached a resume to this job application.
In the job details panel, click the AI Assistant button (sparkle icon).
Select Generate ATS Score.
Wait a few moments while the AI analyzes the documents.
Review your score, the keyword match analysis, and the suggested improvements.

Once you've made the suggested changes to your document, upload it as a new version and run the score again to see your improvement!

Tips#

Aim for a score of 80 or above before submitting your application.
Don't just stuff keywords; ensure they are integrated naturally into your bullet points.

Best Practices#

Use the AI Assistant's suggestions as a guide, not absolute law. Sometimes a missing keyword isn't actually relevant to your specific experience, and it's better to be honest than to force a match.
Focus on the "Missing Hard Skills" section first, as these are the most critical factors for ATS systems.

FAQ#

Why do I have to trigger the score manually? Generating deep, contextual analysis requires significant processing power. By making it manual, we give you control over when to use the tool, typically right before you are ready to submit an application.

Does a 100/100 score guarantee an interview? No. The score indicates how well your document matches the keywords and requirements of the job description, which helps you pass automated filters. Human recruiters will still evaluate your experience holistically.
